You may have not heard, but the largest importer of the Nissan Skyline into the United States Motorex was recently shut down.  According to reports from the Nissan/Infiniti Car Owners Club (NICO), Nanahoshi Hiroaki has been linked from crimes like assault with a deadly weapon to attempted kidnapping; not to mention the poor business ethics they have shown.  According to the NICO, the facilities have been forcibly closed due to their failure to pay rent.  Good think I held on to my R34 deposit for a little longer!

I’d like to hear some opinions, and not just the shouting matches that seem to be going on regarding the making of this movie.  Clearly Drifting has exploded in the US, even though it has long been a popluar sport in Japan; the result of which is an American made movie depiction.  Personally, I’m not going to run out and slide my car around the turns to prove my superiority, but as an artform I do admire the beauty and precision it takes to drive cars in this fashion.

Back to the movie issue, clearly it’s fake Hollywood overhype, but that’s what makes it a movie.  As a kid, and as an adult, I’ve watched movies that are clearly bogus, but the point is to escape from reality for a moment.  I see all these guys posting how bad this movie makes the sport look, yet professional drivers are actually in the movie.  I’m no pro driver and most likely those who continue to post how much they hate this idea probably are not pros as well.  At the same time I’ve yet to find a Formula-D driver come out and say this movie is just a total joke(even though it is).  Look at it like this, are gorillas real - yes; is King Kong - no, but you still went to see it.  If the movie industry can make a couple of bucks off people they will; and love it or hate it most people reading this will see The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift at some point.

Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift Trailer (Click to view) is up so I figured I’d give it a post! As I said before I really don’t have an opinion either way on the movies, but the second was rather rediculous. It looks like they will get it right this time focus on the cars, not the overplayed drama. We’ll see what comes of it this summer.
